Lake Related Information

 

AURORA LAKE ASSOCIATION.  The ALA maintains its own website, separate from the Hawthorn of Aurora website.  To access this the ALA website, click on the following link,  Aurora Lake Association.  You can then view minutes for ALA meetings, and other ALA information.   Below you will find additional  "lake related" information for Hawthorn residents.

ALA is comprised of members of both Hawthorn and Aurora Shores for the purpose of managing Aurora Lake for all of our benefit. All meetings of the ALA are public and attendance is encouraged.  

Please contact one of the ALA Board Members for information concerning dates and times for ALA Meetings.   Hawthorn Members are:

LAKE TESTING.  The ALA continues to test the quality of water in the lake approximately every other week and before holiday week-ends.   Please click on the following link,  Lake Test Results 2009, to review the results. 

2010 BOAT STICKERS.   All boaters will soon receive the paperwork required to get a boat sticker for the 2010 boating season.    The process for 2010 will be similar to last few years. We are reserving two dates/ times for you to come to the clubhouse with your paperwork and money/ check.  You will receive your sticker(s) at that time.  The dates/times are as follows:

Saturday, May 8                  10:00AM - Noon

Tuesday, May 18                 5:00PM - 7:00PM

Please complete all the paperwork and bring it at one of the above designated times, along with: 

  • Completed Lake Access Permit, signed by the homeowner
  • COPY of Boat title (designating the homeowner as the owner of the boat)
  • COPY of Ohio boat registration (designating the boat is registered in the State of Ohio)
  • COPY of Insurance documents ($1 million liability coverage for boats over 10HP)
  • Check made out to Hawthorn Homeowners Association
    • $25 for each power boat
    • $10 for each "other" including kayaks, pedal boats, canoes, etc.   $30 will allow unlimited "other devices"
    • $2 for trailer sticker if you do not have already

No stickers will be issued without all of the necessary paperwork, so please read this in detail and make sure you have all necessary documentation.   NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you cannot be available for one of the above times, please make arrangements to submit your paperwork via US Mail to PO BOX 390: Aurora, Ohio 44202.  Once we receive and review your paperwork, you will receive your sticker(s).  There will be an incremental $10 fee for any paperwork not received by Friday, June 11.

BOAT DOCKS  

Residents who rented boat docks in 2009, should have received paperwork for renewal of boat docks.   Please review the contract, sign and return as directed.   Boat docks will be installed prior to Memorial Day and will be available through mid-September.

AURORA LAKE WATER SKI CLUB   

Water skiers from Aurora Shores and Hawthorn have formed a ski club, called the Aurora Lake Water Ski Club (ALWSC). The club has been established to provide a community of skiers and non-skiers a way to learn how to ski, barefoot and wakeboard, as well as improve individual skill levels in each of these disciplines.  Please click on the following link, for more information Aurora Lake Water Ski Club
